Memorial Day Cleaning

Cleaninguptoys Why can't my house look like this all the time? (I'm talking about right now)  From just after Christmas until May, my house looks like a bomb went off inside and someone forgot to notice.  It is completely out of control.  The laundry becomes 500 loads high and extends into the hallway, up into the rafters, and past the shingles on the roof.  The outside of the windows are covered in webs and dead bugs, the doors have fingerprints, the walls are dirty, you can see a path of filthy ...

Impossible Laundry

SingleNoKids1Basket Single no kids - 1 Basket, slightly overflowing

I have yet to figure out how my family of 6 can accumulate so much dirty laundry.  I swear I think my husband must change his underwear 3 times a day.  Me, I just stay in the same clothes for 3 days straight to avoid any more ...

Old Friends - New Memories

OldFriendscropped

There is something wonderful about old friends.  They turn up when you need them the most and when you least expect it.  I needed them most yesterday, and out-of-the-blue, three of them called.  We must have a sensory thing going on here because yesterday's phone calls were completely unexpected, and considering the kind of day I was having, they were a welcome gift to brighten my otherwise difficult day.

Friends - Pulling out the fire hose

Friends

I've been awake off and on all night thinking about friendship.  I just had a somewhat major fall out with a "friend" and began analyzing just how good of "friends" we really are.  I've only known L for about a year, but we have been great friends - able to talk about anything, able to share anything, and able to talk to each other about those uncomfortable issues without feeling "judged."  That's a true friend.  We did have one disagreement early on in the friendship about L's husband's ex-wife.  A silly disagreement if you ask me, but a disagreement nonetheless.  We apologized and that was the end of that - next chapter begun.

Morning aches

MorningAchescropped

I feel worse in the morning than I do when I go to bed.  My back aches, my legs hurt, I'm yawning uncontrollably, and yet, it is all I can do to get my body in the vertical position.  Inevitably, I will sit up, think for about 30 seconds, and lay back down.  The pillow feels good, then I sit up again for about 45 seconds.  Forget it, back on the pillow.  Then it takes this unbearable willpower and I sit up, get up, and go thru my morning routine.  Now my eyes are watering.  I have yet to figure out how anyone, especially in their 40s and 50s and older, can get up at 5am and waltz their caboose to the gym for an hour before they shower and go to work.  I'd rather sleep.  I love sleep when I am actually getting it.  Right now, I am obviously not getting my sleep.  Where's some coffee?  Even the noise I have to make with the coffee pot to get it started gives me a headache.

I love Mosquitoes

Mosquito I really do – at least tonight I do.  I’ve had one of our bedroom windows open for the last 5 days and nights enjoying the breeze and the unseasonably cool evenings, making sure to keep the lights out in my room at night so as not to attract those nasty little buggers that buzz by my ear at night scaring me half out of my wits.  Dang those bugs are loud.

Tonight, the lights were on in our bedroom and when I came to bed the room must have had a hundred mosquitoes on the ...

Oprah and reincarnation

Oprah

I just watched an Oprah show with Dr. Oz and Dr. Weiss on regression into past lives through hypnosis.  Something about energy and how we are all connected.  Dr. Oz said that if a knob was the same energy here as something on the other side of the world and he turned it, the knob on the other side would turn too.  This is all too much for my brain to comprehend and I think I would be terrified to actually be hypnotized.  Are we asleep during hypnosis?  Do we know what we said or did?
